Spend your winters taking cruises around the world

Spend Your Winters Taking Cruises Around the World

Are you looking for a way to escape the cold of winter? Then look no further than cruises around the world to take you to warm climates and exciting destinations.

Since cruises around the world usually depart in January, this is the ultimate way to escape the snow, ice and cold temperatures of a northern climate. They last from 90 to 121 days depending on the cruise line and the itinerary of ports of call. Such cruises visit at least five continents in one voyage, always choosing the best locations for excursions onshore. You will not only see dramatically changing landscapes when you awake each morning, but you get a chance to see some of the most renowned attractions in the world.

Most of the cruise lines offering luxury around the world cruises (http://www.amttravel.com/cruise-lines/luxury-world-cruises.html) divide the itinerary into sections allowing you the flexibility of booking several sections or the entire cruise depending on how long you want to spend at sea and the places you want to visit. Some of the most popular destinations for such cruises include:

? Auckland
? Sydney
? Bora Bora
? Vietnam
? French Polynesia
? The Caribbean
? The Greek Islands
? Safaga, Egypt
? Dubai
? Bombay
? Spain

There are so many things to see and do when taking cruises around the world that it is important to research the various cruises available to make sure that you will get to stop in the locations that are you are most interested in visiting. Most of the cruises around the world start in the east and sail west. If your point of departure is in Europe, you will have to travel to the Mediterranean area of the world first. Those cruises that originate on the east coast of the US will cross the Atlantic towards Europe and those originating on the west coast will cross the Pacific. Although it is mainly the larger cruise ships that offer cruises around the world, there are many luxury liners that are smaller in size so that your cruising experience is an intimate one with much more flexibility.

When packing for an upscale around the world cruise, you know that you can leave your bulky winter clothing at home. Since there are laundry facilities onboard all these cruise ships, you don’t have to try to take all your lighter clothing with you. No doubt you’ll plan to engage in shopping onboard the ship and when you land in the various ports, you will need to have room in your luggage to take your purchases back home with you. Since you will also be spending quite a lot of time on the ship, you should bring casual and formal clothing, as well as comfortable clothing you can wear in the fitness center. Of course, you have to plan on spending some time soaking up the sun’s rays as you lounge on the pool deck, so swimwear is essential.

With cruises around the world, you can jam a lifetime of vacationing into one cruise. Immerse yourself in the culture of each port you visit and make memories that will last the rest of your life. Not all cruises are alike, as the various cruise lines offering five star world cruises (http://www.amttravel.com/cruise-lines/world-cruise-lines.html) often have different ports of call. If you take one world cruise, you can take another in the following year or a few years down the road to visit different destinations.

By taking cruises around the world during the winter months, you have a change of scenery. You don’t have the year round expense of maintaining a home or cottage in a warmer climate. You also don’t have to worry about making reservations for different flights or for finding accommodations in various locations. Your home for the duration of your cruise will be your stateroom aboard the cruise ship where you will have all the comforts of home.

Tips for packing for your hiking trip

Tips for Packing for Your Hiking Trip

More and more people today enjoy the simple, wholesome fun of hiking. Hiking is an affordable, yet healthy and emotionally rewarding way to spend a vacation or a long weekend – and you don’t need to visit a travel agent.

Experienced hikers will always tell you that every detail matters when you pack hiking gear, especially tents and camping stoves. The right hiking gear and clothing, a properly and ergonomically packed backpack, positive mood and good fitness – all these elements play an equally important role in the success of any hiking trip.

Hiking boots are the most important part of your hiking gear. The right footwear will serve you longer and take you farther and safer than any training shoes or sneakers will. You can wear a cheaper pair of pants or an old t-shirt, but a good reliable pair of hiking shoes or boots should be as expensive as you can afford.

Many people consider their jackets as another important clothing item for a hiker, especially in the colder periods of the year. A hiking jacket can be a true lifesaver if you choose well. A Gore-Tex top layer will shield you from cold, wet, and windy weather. Many hiking jacket manufacturers use a layering approach in their jackets, so that an outer shell layer becomes not insulation, but goes over insulating clothing. Underneath a Gore-Tex layer your can wear a lightweight and even trendy fleece jacket, which you can use in warmer months and for other sporting activities too.

Hiking tents are a must if you plan to camp in mountain regions in all three hiking seasons – spring, summer, and fall. Hiking tents can be used for protection from storms, winds, small animals and insects. Along with a tent pack a sleeping bag and an insulating ground pad which also brings warmth as well as ironing out bumpy ground.

A lightweight, dependable backpacking stove is much easier to use than campfires which are often prohibited in certain areas. A camping stove manufactured by such trustworthy brands as Primus and Coleman are basically a fuel container and a fire faucet with burner grates. These grates can collapse for compact storage. More expensive models even have electronic ignition so you won’t need matches or lighter. Although it is always a good idea to pack matches anyway in case of ignition failure. Another version of a camping stove is a storm cooker which basically consists of a spirit burner with windshield and handle and a pot or pan for cooking. These stoves are lightweight because you don’t need a propane container, but are sufficient for one or two people only.

The newest models of camping stoves are environmentally friendly, odor-free, and very accommodating. To cook and eat take a pot, spoon, and a cup. To start the camping stove, if you don’t have an ignition feature, lighters are more reliable than matches. Take more fuel than you initially planned – camping stoves “eat” more fuel in cold weather.

To fully enjoy your hiking trip you must prepare beforehand. Even a small mistake in selecting your hiking equipment may result in an injury or at the least in discomfort and a negative experience. Check and fire up your camping stove while still at home and double check your hiking gear and equipment using a hiking checklist before you head out.

Bodyweight exercises vs gym machines: which are better

Bodyweight Exercises VS Gym Machines: Which Are Better?

When it is time to get back into shape, burn off those pounds that accumulated over vacation or build muscle for the beach, most people think about going to the gym and using gym machines. After all, when you walk into your local gym and see all the shiny equipment, it is impressive. How could you not get fit, burn fat and build muscle?

However, in my opinion, bodyweight exercises are a better choice for your fitness, fat loss and physique building needs. You not only build an attractively muscular body, but you improve real world performance with physical abilities you can use outside the gym. Plus, you can avoid those high gym fees!

Gym Machines Are Useful For A Busy Gym Business, Not Necessarily Your Fitness

While the fitness industry wants you to believe gyms are set up to help you get fit, the truth is, a gym is a business. And businesses want to make money. (And frankly, I don’t find anything wrong with that).

But what happens is, decisions are made based on how much money they can make, not how helpful they are. And using machines are a perfect fit.

Set up a series of machines and have the gym members go through the circuit like an assembly line and they will be improved at the end. Sounds great, but it is not the best way to train… even if it allows the gym to increase its membership.

Gym Machines Improve Your Performance In The Gym, And Do Little For REAL World Performance Improvement

When you exercise and train, your body makes changes due to the stress placed on it. It will build muscle, burn fat, improve cardiovascular function, etc. so you are better prepared for the activity in the future. But here is the thing. The improvements your body makes are specific to the activity. So, when you train on machines in the gym, your body gets better at training on machines in the gym.

In the real world you are not strapped into a machine and asked to perform reps of a movement foreign to natural movement. From a performance standpoint, bodyweight exercises are a better choice for performance improvements you can actually use. And the physical improvements are just as visible.

Bodyweight Exercise Train Your Body In The Way It Naturally Moves, Unlike Gym Machines

When you use your own bodyweight for resistance, you are training yourself to perform better in the real world. After all, exercise is about movement… not muscles. And when you use bodyweight exercises, you are training your body to move better.

And isn’t that really the point. Don’t you want to perform better in your daily activities as well as look better? I sure do.

When you want to get fit, burn fat and build a strong, attractive body, don’t immediately run off to the gym. Use the gym you were born with by exercising with bodyweight only movements and calisthenics. You’ll find you perform better, feel better and look better than if you used all those shiny, chrome machines..

So, when choosing between gym or no gym… go gymless!

How to choose a new golf bag

How to Choose a New Golf Bag

Golf bags come in a variety of types. If you have just started playing golf or have been playing for awhile you will need to consider what the options are. The various types of golf bags include carry bags, staff bags, cart bags and travel bags.

You should choose a carry bag if you intend to walk the golf course, perhaps for fitness purposes or because of the fact your like the walk. Carry bags are lightweight so that they are easily carried and are often constructed from nylon and plastic, canvas. They are usually limited in size because they can’t be too big or heavy but will be able to fit a basic set of clubs, tees, balls and towel. When it is time to put the bag down to play a shot you can use a specially designed stand to keep the bag upright.

While carry bags are carried by the golfer or caddie, cart bags are designed to be placed on the back of an electric golf cart or hand pushed cart. They are simply too big to carry because they are intended to be able to carry a lot more equipment than a carry bag such as extra clubs, golf drivers, drinks, shoes, extra clothes and anything else you can imagine that you would want on a golf course. With that said, most cart bags have a strap that will allow you to carry them. Just be warned however, that when they are full you will need to be very strong and fit to carry them for a full 18 holes.

Professional golfers use what is called a staff golf bag. Often, they don’t carry them as they have a caddie to do the heavy lifting for them. These bags are essentially very large carry bags. They are designed to carry up to 14 golf clubs and all the rest of the equipment that a professional golfer requires when they are playing. If you aren’t a professional golfer but require a large golf bag then this is worth a look.

But what about when you need to take your clubs when you travel, like on a business trip or vacation? Thankfully they have thought of this too. A golf travel bag provides protection for your clubs whether it is on a plane or in a car. If you think that you will travel mainly by car then a soft golf travel bag would most likely be the best choice for you. They are lightweight and compact. Alternatively for those who travel by plane, a hard travel would be the ideal choice.

A hard golf travel bag has a hard outer shell that provides great protection for your clubs and gear while they get tossed around by the baggage handlers. The fantastic thing about hard travel bags is that when you finally reach the golf course they can be used on a golf cart. This means you won’t need to move your gear from one bag to another when you want to play. However, you won’t be able to use them as carry bags and you will need to check them in when you board your plane as airlines consider them to be luggage.

As you can see, there are a range of golf bags that you can choose that will fit whatever purpose you’ll need them for. The best bag can only be chosen once you know exactly what you will take with you on the course including clubs, golf drivers, towels, shoes and more. You will also need to know whether you will be walking, use a golf cart or need to travel to your destination.
