Stop yoyo dieting
Stop YOYO dieting
Becoming fit and looking your best is something that tops the list when it comes to new years goals and something that we all want to work towards. Even though there is a lot of information available on how to get fit and lose our love handles, there are a lot of people who are still overweight and feel confused about how they can finally reach their fitness goals.
The typical example you often see is people who go on a really strict diet and lose a couple of pounds just to gain it all back within a couple of weeks. This is even worse than just being unhealthy and is referred to as yoyo dieting. This process of constantly dieting and then binging will slowly make you lose your muscle weight and start replacing it with fat. The added fat and lost muscle will lower your metabolism and lead to you gaining more fat and as you can see the vicious circle has started.
The first thing you need to do is to change your mindset and stop going on a “diet”. You simply can’t just go on a diet and reach the physique you want and then go back to your unhealthy lifestyle and expect the changes to last. What you are looking for if you want long term and healthy results is to change your lifestyle completely and change your relationship with food.
What has happened in today’s society is that people view food as something to gain pleasure from. Even though it is really nice to eat something delicious, what we have to remember is that the first goal of eating is to survive and to fuel the body.
The next thing you need to do is to start exercising your body and getting your pulse up and working. Our bodies are not built in order to stay still and you need to go out and move around. Start by taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walk instead of taking the metro, and bike instead of taking your car. Then get a membership to a gym and make sure you actually use this membership. You want to hit the gym at least 3 times a week and once you are there it is important that you spend your time properly and don’t just try to get by with the easiest stuff possible. The road to fitness will be worth it.
