At home calisthenics routine or join a gym

At Home Calisthenics Routine Or Join A Gym?

When the person staring back in the mirror is not what you want, you have a choice. You can do a calisthenics routine at home, or you can join a gym. I believe there are advantages to using bodyweight only exercises at home over joining a gym. Here’s why…

First The Obvious Reasons I Prefer An At Home Calisthenics Routine

There are some obvious reasons why I prefer to work out in the comfort of my own home rather than join a gym. First is the price which can be substantial. Second is convenience. Third is having to deal with crowds.

But the main reason has to do with effectiveness. I believe you should start to get in shape, lose unwanted fat and build attractive muscle using only the weight of your own body.

A Calisthenics Routine Trains Movements Most Gym Workouts Don’t

The truth is, exercise is about movement. Two movements in particular: the movement of your own body and the movement of foreign objects. Gyms tend to only focus on weight training or using machines. They don’t spend a lot of time on bodyweight only training… because it would ultimately teach people how to reach their goals without joining the gym.

Using a bodyweight calisthenics routine improves the way your body naturally moves. And you can become stronger, leaner and better conditioned in a way that translates into more real world benefits. Now, I know most of you want to work out to look better, but don’t you want your workout efforts to help performance facing the challenges of work, sport and life as well?

Bodyweight Calisthenics Are Better For Real World Improvements Than Gym Machines

In my opinion, gym machines, and the routines made up of using gym machines, are more of the benefit of the gym than the exerciser. It is an easy way for them to train a large number of people and take on more memberships than they otherwise could. But this conveyor belt style training where you go through a circuit of machines is not necessarily what you need to do to reach your fitness, fat loss and physique building goals. (How many of you have already joined a gym and NOT gotten the results you wanted?)

First of all, these movements don’t reflect movements you use in the real world. Most of the exercises are done sitting down, strapped in and using a limited movement dictated by the machine. When was the last time you did anything similar outside the gym?

Regardless of what commercial gyms would have you believe, you don’t need to join a gym to get fit, lose fat or build muscle. As a matter of fact, you can reach your goals without equipment by performing a bodyweight calisthenics workouts at home. It’s cheaper, more convenient and ultimately more effective than expensive access to a room full of shiny machines. Try it for yourselves and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

An alternative to traditional exercise: the rowing machine

An Alternative to Traditional Exercise: the Rowing Machine

Ever since I got into sports I have always been looking for exercise equipments that I could use inside my room. There were days when I found it impossible to do road work exercises outside due to weather swings. I went around shopping in fitness stores and found out that rowing machines are one of the most popular exercise alternatives. It is a system that works different areas of the body. Its unique setup creates resistance to different muscle groups, both in the lower and upper body. This provided a great alternative to muscle strengthening and conditioning. Rowing machines are well known for its efficiency in improving back and shoulder muscles. However, they do also provide a great work out to the thighs, calves and gluteus maximus. There are various rowing machine techniques that can be followed in order to achieve different levels of muscle growth in different areas of the body. Certain types of positioning, repetition, and set managements can all be applied to enhance the conditioning and strengthening of certain muscle areas. What I was looking for was a flexible equipment that can allow users to exercise different types of rowing machine techniques

The Search Continues
With this knowledge in mind, I shopped around looking for the best rowing machine that fit my needs. I run everyday and lift weights on a regular 3 day a week basis and so when rain is pouring hard or if the snow is unbearable, a certain type of exercise equipment should be able to provide the same results as my everyday workout. That was what I was looking for. Something that I could bring inside my room and make me sweat and work similar to the way the open field and road does.

Short Description of Stamina ATS 1400 Air Rower
I was looking for something special and just as I expected it, the cost was unforgiving. I looked around so more, checking rowing machine ratings, reviews, and comparisons in order to find the best rowing machine there is that would fit my budget. I found attractive products but the best rowing machine that was available at the time was the Stamina ATS 1400 Air Rower. Its price ranged from 300-400US$ and its benefits were attractive. Some of its benefits were included in the product which had features such as multi-function monitors, molded seat that ensures comfort, wheels for portability, easy storage, and strong and efficient wind resistance. It is constructed through steel which makes the product very durable and therefore much more attractive. Its user ratings and reviews were high and it was voted most efficient rowing machine of the year. Having a rowing machine comparison on this price budget would be senseless as nothing would beat the Stamina ATS 1400 Air Rower in terms of price and product quality.

The Leading Rower Machine – Stamina ATS 1400 Air Rower
I have previously tried my friends’ rowers which were supposed to be of higher quality as stated in early rowing machine reviews and ratings. What is surprising is the difference in user friendliness and efficiency of the product. I reviewed the online ratings and user reviews of those products online and found out that many of the users rated the products high in the beginning but after a few months realized the problems such as missing wheels which makes it harder to move around, quick deterioration of mechanical parts, and safety hazards in the way the products are designed. Due to my findings and experiences with the Stamina ATS 1400 Air Rower, I am 100% convinced that I have gotten way more than what I paid for in purchasing the product. It is one of the best deals in the market and I am a 100% satisfied customer.

How to avoid golf injuries

How To Avoid Golf Injuries

You are such a good golf player and you are destined to win your local hole in one to grab that fantastic prize on offer from golf competitions! So you go to the golf course everyday to practise your driving, putting and swinging skills everyday.

That the unexpected happened! When you were executing your most elegant and powerful swing ever, you heard a loud pop followed by an excruciating pain in your lower back which forced you to abandon the game you were enjoying so much.

Welcome to the not so wonderful world of golfing injuries. If you are playing golf regularly, you will suffer from some form of golf related injuries from time to time. You may not even know that you are suffering or about to suffer from some serious injuries because most of the injuries are not immediately felt and it is through time as the benign injuries get more and more serious through muscle imbalances, lack of golf fitness, bad postures and wrong swings of the golf clubs amongst other reasons.

Although compared with many other sports, the game of golf appears to be relatively benign in its potential to cause serious sports injuries. However, this is only a perception because golf injuries and even serious permanent ones are very real.

You see, the game of golf stresses your body in unique ways that can cause both acute and chronic injuries. Therefore carefully ensuring basic good biomechanics specific to the game of golf as well as aquiring good techniques and skills can minimize golf-related injuries of the back, shoulders, elbows, hands and wrists or even muscle tears! In other words, you must have golf fitness to play better golf, avoid injuries and add many more yards to your drive.

Injuries of the wrists, elbows, shoulders, torsos and trunk are the most common golf-related injuries and it is commonsense logic that the leading side of the body is more injury proned than the trailing side in most golfers.

Numerous research have proven that lower back pain is the most commonly injured part of the body in an amateur male golfer. Female amateur golf players are more often experienced injuries of the elbow joints.

It is interesting to note that professional golf players most often injured their wrists, followed by the lower back, shoulders, and elbows, which are markedly different from those commonly suffered by the amateurs.

It is thought that swinging techniques are the most likely culprit for the differences in frequency of injured parts of the body between an amateur and a professional player. Another surprising finding is that the injury rate in golfers over 50 years old is only slightly higher than that in younger golf players. That means that you are susceptible to golf injuires at any age.

So, would hiring a golf coach reduce the risks of golf related injuries? Well, this move could certainly reduce the risks of injuries somewhat, but will not completely eliminate them. Although having good techniques could help to minimize injuries, injuries in amateurs golfers are most often due to overuse and repetitive motions. This is even more pronounced in professional golf palyers who play the game more often.

Here are some tips to reduce your golf related injuries.

Play Less Often – Since we know that most of the injuries are caused by repetitive motions and overuse of your joints and muscles, then play golf less often and let your body rest in between games.

Low Back Pain – You can avoid lower back pain by rotating the shoulder and hip a similar amount during the back swing and keeping the back vertical during the follow-through. This will greatly reduce the amount of rotation and strain to your lower back.

Furthermore, a follow-through with the spine perpendicular to the ground is so much more gentler on the spine than the “reverse C” finish, in which extreme hyperextension puts an incredible load on the joints of your spine.

Shoulder Injuries – In order to reduce the stress on the acromioclavicular or the ac joint (the joint between the collar bone and the shoulder blade) of the leading shoulder is to shorten the swing by ending the backswing with the club head at a 1 or 2 o’clock position.

Conditioning the rotator cuff and scapular muscles with weight resistance training will also be of great help to reduce chances of shoulder injuries. Remember, your shoulder joint is the most unstable joint in the human body.

Elbow Injuries – Research have shown that therapies such as medial counterforce for golfer’s elbow may help to relieve symptoms of elbow pain. However, this do not correct the problems and so is just a pain relief.

Improving swing mechanics, wrist techniques and seeking effective treatments to reduce the repetitive strain injury and re-balance your muscles are the keys to avoid or cure elbow injuries caused by playing golf.

Wrist Strains And Sprains – Proper swing and grip technique is essential to avoid wrist injuries. The strengthening of the your forearm muscles with weight training will help minimize undue wrist motion during your swings and lessen the overuse effect.

So in order to cut down the risks of suffering injuries that can ruin your favorite game or sometimes even end your golf playing days, you have to identify your risks of injuries from overuse of your joints and muscles. Is it due to your poor technique, muscle imbalances, poor postures or even all of the above? Then work on your golf fitness to eliminate the problem areas and you will soon be on your way to being a better golfer and be relatively free of any golf game induced injuries which are avoidable.
